"There is a particular Mexican fruit -- it tastes somewhat like a green persimmon tainted with kerosene --, and while learning to like it you are advised to sit in a bathtub full of water up to your neck, in order to avoid getting all messed up with the outspurting juice. And when you have finished that special preparation you must have the patience to sit quietly for about an hour, picking with questing and diligent fingers to remove the great number of flossy, silken fibres from between your teeth. But they do say that after you have eaten eleven of them in this particular manner you will have acquired the taste and become willing to accept them in any form." -from one of the files - dated 1919 - that I've been sifting through. I have no idea what this relates to, but I do know I've been spending too much time in the library.
